Welcome! This is a website that everyone can build together. It's easy!

Who is HLA?This is a featured page

Welcome to Home Learners Alliance(HLA) website.
We are based in Paulding County Ga. We have about 10 families and around 30 children ranging in age from infant to 17 years old. Here is some information about our little community.

Where are we?
Most all of our activities take place in the Dallas/Hiram area.

NEW GA LAW
For those looking to move into the state of Ga or moving from county to county within the state you need to know that school laws have now changed and you only have 10 (TEN) days to register your child for school (public, private or home study). Please don't let that one bite you.

GVA or Homeschool you decide

At this time HLA is serving ONLY homeschooling families.

GVA themselves state: Georgia Virtual Academy is NOT A HOME STUDY program. It is a PUBLIC CHARTER SCHOOL out of Coweta County School System . Therefore, if you use this curriculum your family does not meet the criteria for admission into our group. If you think you would like your children away from the public school environment, but are not ready to homeschool yet, GVA could be a good choice for you and your family. Be aware that as of August 2009 GVA is not an accredited school. That will make it more difficult to transition back into the public school setting. Please see this link for more info on GA Virtual Academy:Ga k12 program
If at some time in the future you change your mind and decide to homeschool please consider us to assist your needs into that endeavor.

Disclaimer
HLA is for informational purposed only. We are not lawyers and are not giving any legal advise. HLA neither condones nor encourages the violation of state, federal, or local laws in the pursuit of homeschooling. If it is found and verified that you are running an illegal homeschool (ie not filing a yearly DOI or filing monthly attendance as required by law or breaking other Ga homeschool laws); this is grounds for IMMEDIATE termination from our group and notification of the proper authorities. NO EXCEPTIONS!

Thanks to our friends at wetpaint you don't have to look at ads. Please take the time to tell them thanks for removing the ads from our little website.

I am interested in seeing if this group would be a good fit for my son. He is going into 6th grade this year (11 years old) & I am looking for something like this that offers field trips & classes. I know you are a small group...do you have other tweens in this group? Are your classes free or is there an additional charge? Please contact me to see if we can meet to see if this would be a good fit for us. Thanks, Kim
